Typically, a guilty plea is entered in exchange for a reduced sentence through a plea bargain. On the other hand, entering a plea of not guilty will result in a trial. WebbBy pleading nolo contendere, you are stating that you do not contest the fact that the Commonwealth can prove you committed the crimes. In criminal law, a plea of nolo contendere has the same effect for sentencing purposes as pleading guilty and, therefore, everything contained in this Guilty Plea Colloquy also applies to a plea of nolo contendere.
